Treatment Of Our Music Video

We have decided to incorporative the title of the song ‘Forty Steps to Rhona’ in the video by using a simple love story set on stairs. The main story is going to be of the couple trying to be together but the girl is always a few steps away. To create this story we are going to use two people (one male one female); the mise-en-scene is going to represent the personalities of the couple. The costumes will give an idea of the characters feelings and personality. These aspects of mise-en-scene will represent the music genre of folk/indie.
The main location will be of a stair case. There will be props and mise-en-scene to create a comfortable and home like atmosphere such as photos on the wall of the couple and decorations to make it more realistic and believable. This will create a strong relationship between the two characters which will help the audience sympathise with the couple.
There will be a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals because the action on screen will reinforce the message which is being told through the lyrics. Some of the props used will reinforce the importance of some of the key lyrics. An example of how this is going to reinforce importance is from the use of signs.
The video will be narrative based however there will be some abstract/concept themes incorporated into the video. The narrative based section will be of the story which is told on the stair case and the abstract/concept section is the stop motion animation section. These two things (narrative and concept) will contrast each other making it more interesting for the audience.
The audience will sympathise with the characters because most people will relate to the storyline and will have experienced it at some time during their life. The fact that the audience will sympathise with them is important for when we create a star image about them which will be part of the digital pack to go inside the cd case.
We will be able to keep the audience’s attention because we are going to make it seem like our video goes through the year of the couple’s life. We are going to create this change in time from the use of mise-en-scene. This is going to be shown through the props such as the decorations. The main sections of the film which are going to be shown are Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day.
